These majestic dunes with their magnificent panoramic views form the largest area of mobile sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere and cover an area of over 400 hectares. The 5000 year old pristine sand dunes are shifting on a constant cycle and, at their peak, can reach heights of up to 50 metres. They are one of the few groups of sand dunes in the world that flow to the water's edge. In 1997 the decision was made to operate an adventure tour, taking advantage of this unique area. To enhance the concept a unique vehicle was required that could tackle the terrain, offering people an experience like no other, in comfort and safety.
It stands at an amazing four metres high, four metres wide and ten metres long. The Desert Storm operated its first tour in January 1998 and began building up a reputation as Perth's ultimate adventure tour. Other four wheel drive vehicles cannot compare with the experience on board the Desert Storm. |
